Dear FIX, Thank you for signing up for An Introduction to Operations Management! I don’t know if you signed up for this course because you are a student seeking new skills in management, a seasoned business person who has some pressing business problem to solve, or if you are just curious about a new academic area. What I do know is that in the six weeks of this course you will learn a new way of looking at the (business) world. You will start to detect bottlenecks, identify productivity wastes, and come up with ideas to improve business processes. This will be fun and rewarding - every visit to the doctor’s office, waiting on hold in the call center, or quality break-down of an electronic device you own will turn from frustration to learning opportunity! I will save my motivating examples and my (very few) jokes for the video lecture. Come “to class” and check out the first video. The burden then is on me to keep you engaged.
